The Vatican has published Venite ad me: Considerations on the Transmission of the Faith in an Epochal Change, on the memorial of Saint John Paul II.
“These Considerations are intended, above all, to take up anew, for the whole ecclesial community, the invitation that the Holy Father Leo XIV extended to the Italian bishops when he met with them in June 2025: ‘First of all, there is a need for renewed zeal in the proclamation and transmission of faith. It is a question of placing Jesus Christ at the center of our proclamation and of our existence and, following the path indicated by Evangelii Gaudium, helping people to live out a personal relationship with Him, to discover the joy of the Gospel. In a time of great fragmentation, it is necessary to return to the foundation of our faith, to the kerygma. This is the first major commitment that motivates all the others.’ Therefore, as the Holy Father further observes, “today, evangelization must, in particular, also grapple with the changed conditions and dynamics surrounding the transmission of the faith from one generation to the next. In some parts of the world, this transmission has all but ceased, and this requires the ability to take on new challenges.’” (Excerpt from Venite ad me, n. 4).
The specific aim of this document, therefore, is to offer a focused reflection and to propose concrete ways of proclaiming the kerygma amid the epochal change through which we are living.
