Prepare your hearts, to return to the wonder of the arrival of the Christ child, and make straight the way of the Lord for His second coming in glory.
This Advent Reconciliation Service at Saint Michael’s Basilica will lead us through a collective examen of conscience. In this season, we hear the Word of John the Baptist calling us to repent, to return our hearts to the Lord. To have sorrow for what wrongs we have done. To resolve to do the good we ought to do, for the Love of God, for our salvation, and for the good of our family and neighbour.
Then, multiple priests will be available for confession, to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
A reconciliation service is a good opportunity for conversion, to turn your heart back to the Lord, when you have not confessed in some time, and when you might be unsure even how to approach the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The service will guide you through what might be weighing on your heart, that would be good to confess, to ask the Lord in His saving Love and Mercy to relieve you of those burdens. Then, the priest can guide you through your confession, penance, and act of contrition. With absolution, with forgiveness from God, you will receive the graces to enter into the Advent and Christmas Season in newness of life, and to overcome the habitual vices or sins that have been weighing you down.
